FCP won't recognize my Firewire deck...

I'm using a 1-chip camera as a deck and have used it many times with my FCP system. Right now, however, FCP isn't detecting the camera.

The camera is powered ON, and I have fiddled with the cable, tried a different cable, tried repowering the camera, rebooting FCP, and have tried a different Firewire port. Still nothing. Any suggestions?

This happened once with another 1-chip camera and I thought it was the camera so I returned it. Now it's happening with this one, so I think it's the computer.

Any help would be appreciated.

Still might be the cable- also zap preferences, zap PRAM
(google for how if you've never done it), run system update, etc.
