FCP vs After Effects

Hey guys, any help on this would be awesome.

I'm in the middle of editing an indy feature and were about to get into color correcting.
My friend has told me that his After Effects teacher has told him to never do anything in Final Cut Pro that requires the video to be rendered. But only to do it in After Effects because Final Cut creates very compressed render files compromising the quality and After Affects does not compress its' render files creating a better image.

Is this true???

Quite the opposite: stay within FCP and you'll have only one compression cycle. Export to AE and you'll probably have 2-3.

That said, AE has better color correction tools if you know what you're doing, but I like the color corrected 3 way just fine.

There's a lot of mis-information from your AE teacher. FCP only compresses video when you ask it. If you edit uncompressed, there is no compression. Similarly, you can render very compressed out of AE if you ask it to. It's all about workflow.
