I have a iBook G4 1GHZ with 768MB Ram. I loaded FCP 4 onto it and started capturing footage. However, when I played back the footage in the viewer, there were visual distortions in the picture. The strange thing was that the distortions looked like distortions I normally see on an analog tape when the tape heads get dirty. I shot the footage on DV and imported through firewire so I don't think it's a case of dirty heads. I also checked the orignal footage and the distortions are not there.
Another interesting thing is when I play back the footage in FCP, the distortions don't happen in the same place. Quicktime has no problem playing back the footage clean which leads me to believe that there is something wrong with FCP playing the footage back clean.
I really don't want to continue capturing since it would be a waste of time if FCP cannot play back the footage without all the visual blips and problems. If anybody knows the solution, please help. Thanks.
Ralph
