FCP update not UPDATING!! help

I was running the V5 FCP.

I've never installed software updates because they sometimes screw up my computer.. but now I need the 720 PAL HD codec so I tried to install.

The software update had no effect on FCP, I hunted around the apple site and found

PROAPPS UPDATE 2005-01 and PROAPPS UPDATE 2005-02 which I installed but made no difference.. then I found 5.0.4 update which updated me to 5.0.4 no problem.. I tried the othe updates again which did nothing and then I found

PROAPPS UPDATE 2006-02 which also did nothing to my version

what am I missing here!! help.

I have the 5.1.2 update but it says it needs a version of 5.1 to work... how can I get FCP to update to 5.1


If I bin FCP and install the updates what order should I do them in?
any advice wouldbe super.. thanks

FCP 5.1 is the Crossgrade upgrade. If you have 5.0.4 you can send your disks in with $49 to Apple and receive the Crossgrade disks.

btw, you don't send in the content disks.

thanks for the info.. I've been trying to sort this out all night!!!

crap from apple... I'll send of my $49 and wait about 6 weeks as I live in the UK!!!
