FCP to Compressor question

So when sending a 5 minute HD video from FCP to compressor I noticed that the final video file coming from Compressor is around 150mb. This seems like it's being extremely over compressed for a DVD. Is this normal?

I usually go: best quality DVD 90 min

For a rough calculation, take a DVD of usable space to be 4.2GB (4.7 is not actual usable space), divide by 90 minutes, gives about 46.7MB per minute or 233MB for 5 min. So 150MB is a little bit less but I would assume content can affect the compression too. And a DVD can't play HD video, has to be standard def for DVD anyway, which is part of the resizing and compression that Compressor is doing.

Pretty much what photon said...Going from 1080 or 720 down to 480 is going to shrink the video size a lot. As long as the footage when played back with a DVD player looks good your fine.
