FCP to AFTER EFFECTS Import/Export and Back Again

Hi-

I shot a music video on DVX-100a in 24p (not advanced) edited it in FCP at 29.97. Now I want to export part of it so I can do some work on it in After Efffects, then export those clips from After Effects to be used back in the FCP timeline.

Then Export that finished project and take it back into After Effects for final color correction before output.

So far when I export clips from FCP as DV-NTSC quicktimes at highest res, when I open them in FCP it says they are now 23.976 with 3:2 Pulldown added. and they look like crap in either a 23.976 or a 29.97 After Effects Time Line. They also give me a lot of strange timing problems when trying to edit them?

I just want to stay 29.97 all the way across the board on this project and keep it simple.

ANY RECOMMENDATIONS for output/input settings from/to FCP and After Effects would be VERY helpful.

Thanks!

Are you sure that you ingested the footage at 29.97? If you ingest the footage at 29.97, edit on a 29.97 timeline, then if you go File > Export > Quicktime Movie, it will export using your sequence setting, which in that case would be 29.97. If all of that does apply and its still coming out 23.98, I'd consider resetting preferences.

cheers.
