FCP to AE

Hello People

Whenever I use the (OPEN IN EDITOR) and my editor is After Effects. The clip comes
into affer effects as the whole clip raw not just the part I have in my FCP timeline.

Does anyone no how to get just the portion of clip that's in the FCP timeline into after effects???

If the Open in Editor function is not working, and from Final Cut to AE, and I would tend to think it wouldn't, simply render the portion you want to adjust as a clip (preferably as something with a lossless codec like Quicktime with the Animation codec) and edit that and then bring it back to Final Cut. Then, use the razor tool (of FCP's equivalent) and put it back into place. Or, if you want to maintain the original part of that track, simply put the new footage on a new track above it.

I imagine that Open in Editor with FCP would want something like Shake. I have tried using the "Open in Editor" (it's not called that but it's the same thing) function with Vegas, and wanted to use Audition to do the audio work for that particular project, and I had the same problem. It wanted to open the file in Sound Forge, since the two are from the same "line" of software. Both Sonic Foundry, and then, both Sony.

It is probably a software issue. You only want to tweak the portion you want, but since you are doing a kind of cross platform thing, only with software, that's probably the problem.

I mark an IN and an OUT on the timeline and export a Quicktime using the 'current settings' (I think FCP defaults to 'current settings'). Works like a champ. I'm not in front of FCP right now, but I think 'export' is under the file or edit menu.
