some useful information: if you currently have any version (including academic) of final cut pro 4 or 5, you can upgrade to final cut studio universal for $199. pretty good deal if you have an academic version of fcp.
 
hey i have the academic version of FCP 5.0 but i dont see where it says i can upgrade to FCP Universal...where's that listed? i was under the impression academic users could not upgrade.
 
Maybe they changed or extended it. The form I downloaded over the summer said right on there the special offer to upgrade to Universal version expires December 31, 2006
 
I says on the order form you download that it must be postmarked by December 20th. And I still can't determine whether or not it includes the academic version. You may have to call to determine that.

So there's no going from 5.0 Academic to 5.1. Ya gots ta reed da SMALL TINY PRINT...

And it seems each one of the options there has different small print at the bottom of the form.
