FCP studio and HVX frame rate issue

I'm new to using HD formats and have a question about viewing footage on my Sony CRT. I am trying to lay off some screeners of footage that I shot so that the producers can look at the footage with timecode. My footage was shot in the 720pn mode on the HVX200. I have thransferred the clips that I want, but I'm having trouble viewing the footage on the CRT. I tried changing the frame rate and the aspect ratio in the sequence settings which enabled me to look at the footage, but the image became distorted. Can anyone help me out with this (probably simple) problem. Thanks!

Distorted how? And how are you laying off screeners? And how did you import into final cut?

When I edit 16:9 24p footage in Final Cut, I usually export a Quicktime Movie using current settings. Toast and idvd usually recognize the footage as 24p 16:9 and encode using the proper settings. A properly encoded 16:9 dvd will play as letterboxed on a 4:3 TV with most DVD players.

It is squashed as if it were anamorphic. I'm trying to lay off to a DVD burner that burns in real time. I imported into final cut via log and transfer off of the P2 file.

I was just trying to save some time without having to burn and compress

Just put your footage into a DV NTSC 720x480 23.98 sequence. FCP should scale it to the proper letterboxed ratio. At 23.98, Final Cut will add pulldown frames on the fly over firewire to make it 29.97, which you can then record.

Well, the footage IS anamorphic...it is squeezed. All HD footage is squeezed. You need a 16:9 monitor to view it properly. And if you want to output it to a DVD recorder, you need a capture card that will downconvert it to SD and letterbox it as it outputs.
