Hey, I went to the FCP Studio 2 "post NAB" Tour presentation yesterday in Seattle and all I can say is WOW! If it hasn't yet come to your city, and even if you already have your copy of Studio 2, I would highly recommend attending this presentation to see the suite taken through its paces.
It's so much more impressive than I expected it to be. It was amazing to see so many people in the audience (including myself) just shaking their heads in wonder and amazement. I swear I almost even felt a little teary a time or two. This new Studio is truly revolutionary, and seeing it demonstrated in depth turned me on to so many more possibilities than I would have discovered any time soon on my own.
It's really true what everyone is saying, Color is worth the price alone - but so are the Soundtrack updates, the Motion updates, ProRes 422 for the love of god, and don't even get me started on the mixed format timeline...damn, I would almost be willing to wear a robe and hand out flyers at airports for this thing...
Bonuses of attending the event, apart from the video iPod and Apple TV raffle; we got to see the RED camera and were shown the 12 minute short, in 2k, directed by Peter Jackson, which was really impressive.
