FCP + Shake Workflow

Hi everyone,

Has anyone here tried out that workflow with exporting selected shots or complete sequences straight into Shake out of FCP? I had a Python script to achieve something similar with Avid and Shake on Windows a while ago, and the current Send To option in FCP does pretty much the same, with an added bonus of automatically rendering a clip to the final cut project folder.

Just wanted to know if anyone has tried a similar set up and if there are things to look out for, such as timecode drifts or whatever else you might think of.

Hi.

I do alot of special effects using shake and yes it just as easy as right clicking on the clip in FCP and selecting send to shake. Just like send to motion or sound track.

You know, the reason I've asked is that it sounds too good to be true. There has got to be some sort of a problem there, like it corrupts all your footage or makes you install Microsoft Office.

As I'm fairly comfortable with it, I'm planning to use Shake primarily for colour correction in this case so I'm going to export entire sequences. Any problems there?
 
Nop. The only thing that might concern you is that it does not do audio well. But at the end of the day you are using it for visual not audio.

when you press right click, send to shake, it does not send the audio as well. Just the footage.

Im still new to shake and still trying to get my head around it.

I'm joking. I couldn't care less about audio in Shake. It's really only useful if you add effects timed to music or dialogue. Just wanted to check if there is something to look out for when bringing footage in and out of Shake.
