FCP settings for P2 720 24p

I just got my HVX 200. Shot 720 24p footage onto a firestore 100, ingested into FCP. When I bring it into FCP created a Panasonic DVCPRo HD easy setup with a frame rate of 23.98. My questions are:

1. Why does my footage read 59.94fps, which is confusing because I shot 24p, shouldn't it read 23.98 like my timeline.

2. why does the frame size say 960x720 as appose to 1280x720.

3. why is the compressor in the timeline DVCPRO HD 720p "60" instead of DVCPRO HD 720p "23.98"?

are these setting normal ?

1. If you shot 720p 24, then you shot at a frame rate of 59.94 with the 24p "look." If you want to shoot 720p at 23.98, then you need to shoot 24PN (N stands for Native). Not sure if the Firestore does 24PN now...I think the new versions do. ANyway, sounds like you shot regular 24p, so choose a 720p60.

2. DVCPRO HD, like most HD formats, is anamorphic...meaning squeezed. This is how they keep data rates low. FCP unsqueezes it when you edit.

3. The DVCPRO HD codec originally is a tape format that was 720p and recorded to tape at 60fps...720p60. So the "compressor" is for this format is 720p60. But a variety of frame rates can be extracted from that format...60fps, 30fps or 24fps

Choose a DVCPRO HD 720p60 Easy Setup and you should be good to go.
