FCP Screen grabs

Ok, so this might OT, but I didnt really know where else to ask this question.

I have a DVCam telecine of a 50 year old print of a home movie I found amongst my grandfathers things when he passed.

Now...I have the footage in FCP, done everything I wanted to it.

BUT I want some screen grabs to make nice stills. I know how to do it in FCP, but I am wondering if there is a program or way to get BETTER quality screen grabs cause the ones that come out of FCP arent that great. And we all know they have never been.

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: FCP Screen grabs

Keep the grabs small in photoshop. There is a way to "kind-of" rez up your grabs... I'll try to find it.

Also, try parking your head over a frame and File - Export - QT Conversion - then in the options, use Still Image and save it as an uncompressed TIFF.

That should help a bit.

Good luck,

Ya -- if you aren't shooting progressive... but then again the quick way would be to capture still right off timeline, so no time to put a de-interlace filter on. I've always used, and been happy with, the photoshop deinterlace filter.

Still looking for some up rez options for you.

Yeah this is exactly what I do, anf then de-interlace in P-shop.

I was just wondering if there was a way to get a better quality grab. But if not it will work fine then.

Thanks for looking up the possible up rez.
