Recommendations for the "best" guide book and/or DVD tutorial for FCP? Thanks.

I'd recommend the Apple Pro Training Series books for tutorials, and the Peachpit Visual Quickstart Guide for quick lookups.

One caveat: I've moved on from the basic Apple Pro Training book to the Advanced Editing and Finishing volume. I don't think the advanced is quite up to the quality of the first one, as I occasionally stumble over incorrect or poorly worded statements. The basic volume, in contrast, was clearly checked and triple checked for accuracy. (Not sorry I got both, however.)

ok, new one. now with the release of the prod. suite, is there yet a book that handles all 3?

Not that I've seen, and not sure which 3 you mean. There's an APTS book on Soundtrack that's pretty good. LiveType comes with a very effective tutorial, and I don't think you'd need much else for it besides practice. Motion, there's an APTS books coming in December. For DVDS3, there's an APTS book that just came out, and a Peachpit VQSG is coming in November.

i meant FCP, Motion and DVDS...i/e the production suite.

As I mentioned, some books are out now, others are coming in 1-2 months. I imagine it'll be at least a couple of months before any combo books are out.
