FCP "quit unexpectedly"

Everytime I try to export my 7 minute short film with Quicktime, no matter what the conversion settings, it craps out at the 22% mark. it's done it 12 times in a row and i've tried everything I can find online. It also did it on Compressor. Some of my audio clips are showing a green line, like they need bitrate conversion, but I have no idea how to do that. I've also tried deleting any questionable audio clips, but It still quits at the same point everytime. PLEASE HELP ME!

it's not really "unexpectedly" if it does it at 22% everytime and then can't tell you why.

Trash your preferences(search Google for how). If that doesn't work, reinstall FCP from your original discs.

Try trashing your preferences to reset FCP. You do this by deleting a couple of files on your system. Do a search for it.

If your audio clips are showing a green bar then your system is capable of doing the required processing to play them real time.

If you want to improve the performance, you can render the audio by opening the sequence and then go to Sequence > Render All > Audio. Normally you want all your audio at 16 or 24-bit, 48khz in AIFF or WAV format, so if you are using compressed audio formats (like MP3), doing an Item Level render on the clips can help a lot as it will convert the whole file for you to the proper format (render). Sequence > Render [All, Selection, or Only] > Item Level. Alternatively, you can use iTunes (or another app) to convert the files to the proper format before using it in FCP. Read up on this in the manual.

thanks guys

thanks guys

i tried the preferences trick earlier no avail. thanks a lot for the tip on the audio rendering too. I FIXED IT. what i ended up doing was finding exactly where 22% of the timeline was (multiplied the total runtime in seconds by .20). that was the exact frame where a cut came in, with an audio transition underneath. i erased that audio transition and it rendered it just fine. still no idea what was hanging it up but it works now!

i had a similar problem with a video filter keyframe.

apparently it was corrupt or the like.
once i found the exactly keyframe & deleted, it rendered fine!
