FCP Questions

Ok, I did a little search and since the word "frame" was in it, I got a huge number of results, none that were pertinent.

Here's the scenario...I am about to shoot a music video in 24 Standard mode (final output is video so I thought this to be best) and I am going to use my laptop to generate a timecode sync I can shoot with my vid camera at the beginning of each take. Here is my question: which 29.97 frame rate should I use, drop or non-drop? I am thinking drop, but I would like some feedback.

Also, how would I add some preroll to my sequence so that the tc starts at 00:00:55:00, and the music starts at 01:00:00:00? I've searched the manual, but cannot find anything.

Thanks for all you guys help, this forum is a great wealth of info!

if you drop a frame your running at 28.97. Why are you running in a 29.97 timeline you could have a perfect timecode for 24p if you use it in a sequence at 24p.

I'm running 29.97 because I figured that might be the best framerate for outputting the video for NTSC. I am trying to set up a workflow, so anyone who has some suggestions, please post away.
