I'm using my DVX100a as a VCR deck... I have no problem capturing clips into FCP HD on the Mac G5, and I can see what I'm capturing on both the computer monitor and ntsc monitor...... but when I go to playback, I can only see the clips in the computer monitor and NOT my NTSC... What configuration or setting am I missing? My current setup is..... DVX camera firewire to MAC G5 tower... RCA plugs (video and audio) between DVX camera and television monitor.

Thanks,
Jeff

Oops... I forgot to say... clips on the timeline in FCP will show up on my computer monitor, but not my NTSC monitor...

Re: FCP playback from timeline on NTSC

View - External Video - All Frames... Video Output... NTSC Firewire.

Good luck,

Re: FCP playback from timeline on NTSC

Thanks....

Still no luck.... I went under "view" - External Video - all frames....

and "view" Video output... NTSC Firewire....

Same as before... I can capture... and see video in playback on the computer, but not the NTSC monitor.... Am I missing skipping a camera setting? It's currently set on vcr.
The firewire cable is the 4-6 pin in the front port of the G5 and into the panel on the camera... The RCA cables are plugged into the camera and the NTSC monitor.....

Re: FCP playback from timeline on NTSC

Make sure your camera is on and in VCR mode.
Go to View -> Refresh External Devices.
Double check your A/V prefs and make sure you have Firewire set (and correct DV NTSC) and not Desktop Cinema set.
Check your camera LCD to see if the signal is getting there.
