FCP not recognising my dv cameras

Hello folks,

I am having this weird problem. I can't seem to get FCP 4.5 to recognise my dv cameras. In the Log and Capture dialog I can control the cameras, but when I try to capture anything it tells me that the device hasn't been detected.
On iMovie I can capture the footage with no problem.
Has anyone had this problem before?
This happened after I updated my OS to 10.3.9
I don't know if it has anything to do with it, but the thing is that it used to work before that update.
Can anyone help me on this?

Thanks in advance

Fidel.

Try trashing your FCP preferences and resetting them. Also run 'Repair Permissions' from Disc Utility a couple of times before you try again.

Thanks, I will try that.

EDIT: I forgot to mention that Roxio Toast 6 also crashes when I connect a dv camera. I will try to repair the disks and reset the preferences for fcp

Also make sure fcp is not on when you connect your cam, for some reason this happens to me too.

but when i turn off fcp, connect the cam, turn on the cam, and after all that turn on fcp all is good.

Hello guys, thanks for the suggestions. I just re-installed FCP and it solved the problem.

Thanks once again

All the best

Fidel.
