Can somebody explain to me how does this work in the real world? I've just tried importing all my AE CS4 project files into AE CS6... all inside the same computer ( different OS though ) and ran into quite a few problems... missing fonts, PlugIn missing, files misplaced, etc.
How does Automatic Duck's Pro Import get around this problems, when we're talking importing a whole project with its associated files from a MAC to a WIN system?
Are you supposed to have all the necessary media files backed up in an external drive when doing the Automatic Duck import? What about WIN MAC compatibility issues ( media files are sometimes incompatible from what I hear )

Going from one version of After Effects to another doesn't require anything special. Auto Duck is for getting FCP, Avid, or Motion projects into After Effects.

The issues you are having with media is because the media is probably stored in a different location. I know Mac OS gives drives names, and Windows gives drives letters. Similar to FCP and Avid, the media is not stored in the project file, its location is referenced by folder path.
The fonts probably don't exist on your Windows system. You can copy the fonts over, or use a different font that both machines have.
