FCP/Kona LHe/firewire problem...

I just tossed a new Kona card in my quad G5. After a little messing around, I determined that I'll still have to use firewire to export my SD projects to a mini-DV deck. I'm using a signal from the deck for monitoring on a JVC SD monitor. My director wanted to LHe specifically to monitor HD HVX footage. A majority of my work is SD.

Anyway, here's my problem. The audio and video signals from the firewire are dropping. The video signal goes all colorific... big blocks of bright green, pink, and purple. The audio goes all buzzy and scratchy. I tested the deck and firewire setup on a Powerbook, and it works fine. I had no problem using firewire before installing the Kona card. Could there be some sort of issue with the card and firewire? Are the symptoms common of a failing firewire port (it does the same thing on both front and back ports...)? I'm lost.

Okay... apparently, my problem comes up when I send video out through firewire and audio out through the Kona card. Any hints? I've always used analog... so can you even split up audio and video when it goes out via firewire?
