FCP HVX Frame drops...

I'm trying to capture from tape with my HVX using FCP. Everything appears to connect correctly yet once I start to capture i.e. within a second or 2 it stops with the error "frames dropped" or some such.

Has anyone any ideas on what I can do to fix this issue? i'm using a 17" Powerbook 1.67 and the latest OS X and FCP versions.

Its the standard Powerbook 5400.... but I've also tried this using an external Lacie d2 FW800 but still getting the same problem :(

I'm using 'Capture Now' but even going a few seconds/minutes into the tape I'm still getting the dropped frames error.

Clean your tape heads. What is your capture setup? Be sure it's set to DVCPRO-HD FIREWIRE. Get FCP Preferences Attic (freeware) and trash your FCP preferences.
