FCP & HVX 24p Rendering Question

Hi,

I recently shot a some footage in atlantic city with my HVX using dv tape. The recording mode was set to 480i 24p. When i captured the footage via canon dv camcorder into fcp and loaded the captured onto a 24p timeline the footage needed to be rendered. Was this because the footage wasn't captured in 24pn native and it belongs on a 29.97 timeline. Im a little bit confused i searched but couldn't really find something that adressed my question directly. Thanks for the help

Ok so that is because it was shot in 24p and not the native 24pn correct? If i where to shoot in 24pn fcp would not require me to render footage on a 24 frame timeline. Sorry if this sounds redundant im just trying to make sure i got it right. Thanks for your help NoahK.

NoahK,
I read your sticky re capture vs ingest frame rates from a DVX100...and I assume the same holds true for HVX200 when using tape and 480.

The HVX is connected to my Macbook Pro via firewire, and I'm ready to Log and Capture.

In the "audio/video settings" tab for FCP there is a "system preset" and a "capture preset". Based on your sticky, what do I select in each of those for tape shot in 480/24pa?
