FCP HD on laptop???

My FCP discs are for version of 4 now I have upgraded to HD on my desktop. If I want to put FCP HD on a laptop then what? Would I have to go an buy FCP HD just to put on a laptop? Could I copy the FCP HD file from the desktop to the laptop? I won't be getting a laptop no time soon but I just wanted to know how it could be done so I can have HD on the desktop and HD on the laptop.

Re: FCP HD on laptop???

I believe there was a thread some time ago about something along these lines. If memory serves, and it may not, I just woke up, you would have to buy another copy of HD if you wanted everything to be legal.

That being said, it's always annoyed me that FCP doesn't allow for multiple licensing, at least not that I know of. I have a laptop and a desktop, and HD is only on my laptop, because it's the faster of the two.

Re: FCP HD on laptop???

I have an older iMac with FC express on it. Last year I bought a 15" PowerBook. A little over $2800 with AppleCare and extra RAM. In November I bought the Production Suite with FCP HD, DVD Studio, and Motion. $1300. In early December, I bought a dual processor G5, with the Apple 23" monitor, extra RAM, and beefier video card. Around $6500 with AppleCare. I always pay full buck for OS upgrades, software upgrades, etc. I would never, ever, give away or share software with anyone. I am on my 9th Mac in 14 years, with uncountable dollars spent on the various upgrades. I work alone, and am only on one computer at a time. Now, I'm sorry, and I hope this doesn't offend anyone on here, or make anyone think less of me, but if Apple, or whoever, thinks I'm going to put ANOTHER $1300 in their pockets in order to have the Production Suite on the G5 and the PowerBook, they are welcome to come on over, haul me off to software prison, and kiss my Apple lovin ass on the way there. Eh?

Apple usually has a non official policy of you can install in to one desktop, and one portable.
