FCP HD No Video Just Audio Problem

Hi,

Long time lurker, first time poster so bear with me.

I just got a gig editing some HD footage (720p/24pn) I shot on my HVX200. Unfortunately after importing the footage into FCP 5.0.4 (Academic Version) all I get is audio with no video playback. I'm editing this on a mac mini (1.83 GHz, 1.25 RAM).

Any idea what the problem is?

A heads up too by the way. In their own white papers, Apple admits that there is a render problem with HVX 200 material (from the P2 card, not tape) and FCP 5.0.4. Any footage imported with 5.0.4 will be susceptible to that problem (though many forum users have said in the past that they never encountered it). 5.1 (the universal version) and higher solves the issue. If you update after importing the footage, still no good, you'll have to re-import the material with the 5.1 or higher version to ensure no problem. Good luck.

Thanks for the codec advice, I had my suspicions on that, but was unable to figure out how to get the codec.

Though wow, didn't know about the rendering problem. Makes a stronger case for going with 5.1 instead (I was on the brink of ordering studio 2, but apparently the mac mini's graphic card can't handle it?)
