Hey everyone...I am wondering how to burn a FCP file on IDVD. What I had to do before was output it from FCP onto a MiniDV tape and then capture it in IMovie and burn it on IDVD from there...IS THERE A BETTER WAY? I'm getting DVD Studio Pro in a few weeks but need to burn some dvd copies in the mean time. THANKS GUYS & GALS!

Just export a quicktime file then import it directly into idvd. Idvd will then compress it itself.
Idvd does not read mpeg. Needs to be a .mov extension.

COOL...in what type of QUICKTIME FILE and/or settings?

Just save it out under"current settings," which should be the MiniDV settings you captured in.
"chapter marks" if you have them, and render. Get coffee. Come back and as the previous post stated- drag the movie file onto iDVD and play with theme pages. I actually use it for a lot of professional stuff. It's easy, quick, and makes adequate DVD's for my needs.

in iDVD5 if you want to encode in the background, make sure you have that option selected. go into your preferences in iDVD and select it then drag your movie or project over to the workspace and let it encode while you start authoring everything.
