I don't understand FCP sometimes... it has a mind of it's own.
I'm running FCS 2 on a powermac G5...
Import 24PA footage shot on the SGpro. Everything's good.
The footage is upside down, so I start by going to the motion tab and rotating 180 degrees. This lets me see the footage straight from the browser, into the viewer, right side up. Drop it in a timeline and everything is fine, right side up, and no need to render. But: the render bar is GREEN meaning it's OK for playback, but not completely processed.
If I hit option R to render completely, the footage flips itself upside down after the render is complete. WTF? under "motion", it's still says 180 degrees, but it's not.
SO... I let that go, edit my footage, DELETE the 180 degree motion flip when done editing, and put a "perspective" filter on the footage instead of the basic motion. Renders out and works fine. MOST OF THE TIME.
Now, I've got ONE sequence in my timeline that flips the footage back after the render. All the other sequence's are flipped, rendered out, and they all have the exact same settings and filters. BUT, for whatever reason, one sequence won't stay flipped after the render.
I don't get it.
If I hit option R to render, and cancel it out after a few seconds, I get the blue render bar for a few secs, then the green one. Well, press play and during playback on the blue, the image is upside down. The exact frame it hits the green, it flips itself back to normal without missing a beat.
What's going on here?? any ideas?? it just costs me more time to figure these things out, and it's a pain in the arse.
and for the record, it acts the same to my external NTSC monitor also.
