FCP exporting problem

Hi
Recently I have had problems when I export to quicktime. The files do not play video, only audio unless I am connected to the original harddrive that I used to edit with. It used to work fine. New quicktime? settings. I have put all my settings to the external HD that I was editing on. was that a mistake? My laptop is maxed out so I needed to. Does it have something to do with render files? Cause I copied all the render files to a folder as well as the qt movie and still no video...

I also am editing 720p 60 and have been exporting as DV. So I tried quicktime conversion at 720p60 and am only getting 1/2 of the project before it stops. Ideally I would like to use 720p60 as my export settings so I NEED to figure that out. It does it on big and small projects. last one stopped at 2.6g and this on at 1.3. Is there a setting that I am missing?

Any help would be awesome!

Gracias!

Sounds like you need to make the movies self-contained.
Select that option when you export.

Hmm...you know you need at least 1 GB free space on your internal harddrive....

Since you're outputing to DV, try making a DV sequence (timeline) in FCP
(i.e. 720x480, 29.97fps, letterboxed, DV codec). When that looks good, render
it, then export using current settings. You'll be able to verify that things are good,
and your export should be pretty fast.

Are you getting a white screen when you open the 720p 60 file in Quicktime? If you are exporting using the DVC-PRO HD codec, you might need to install the Quicktime plug-ins for DVC-PRO HD into the MacintoshHD/Library/Quicktime folder. Those plug-ins are automatically installed with FCP 6 but Im not sure about FCP 5 and without them, Quicktime cant play DVC-PRO HD files.
