Okay this is driving me nuts.
I'm on FCP 4.5, capturing both 24P and 24PA footage at standard 29.97 DV settings. I'm capturing with "Capture Now" (the only suitable method for this project).
After capturing a clip, I can look at the captured quicktime movie in Quicktime, and it's all there, but in FCP it clips off a big chunk of the beginning and end of every clip. Usually about 10 seconds, but sometimes up to a minute (!). Additionally, the reported length in FCP is different from the length in Quicktime.
If I run the Find DV start/stop breaks thing, it will actually create markers for breaks outside the recognizable area (so it's seeing them, which is good), but I still can't get to that footage (ie. if you look at the clip in the viewer, those markers aren't visible, but you can SHIFT-DOWN to them).
If I delete from FCP and re-import, nothing changes.
It seems like there must be Quicktime headers in the file telling it to do use these "soft" in and out points, but I don't understand why, or how to change it.
If this has been previously answered, please point me to a thread, as I can't find one. Everything else is working perfectly, so I'm baffled.
Help!
