I understand now that you need to capture at a 29.97fps with the advance pull down 2:3:3:2 removal on in order to get true 23.98fps. But is there anything special I need to do for the DV Control Preset. I currently have it on the Firewire NTSC preset, with non-drop frame and 29.97fps, is that what I want?

This is a simple question, i apologize if it seems a little too simple

Yes, you should be set (audio should be 48k).
There is an Easy Setup menu. Click on show all and select the remove 2:3:3:2 pulldown and that should setup everything (presets for sequence and capture). The only other thing as you've noted to set is non-drop frame.
 
Thanks, My problem is that, on my easy setup menu, I acually dont have alot of the settings that people have covered in other threads, and I dont have the default advance pull-down removal setting your talking about either, It may be because I have a pirated prog - but I have figured everything out manually and I think im good to go for true 24p capture, editing, and export

Well if you're doing much work with a program you should consider getting a real copy.
For those still taking some classes there are pretty cheap educational versions.
