FCP crashing on External.

Hey guys, my friend had a question.

SHe just bought a lacie hardrive, and when she goes to capture, she gets a message with FCP saying that it is looking for disk space, then it freezes.

Here is the question she had:

"im using an external harddrive to save to in final cut but when i capture it says locating disk space and eventually freezes"

She is on FCP studio 1.

Has she verified that the drive is recognized ?

Is she saving to the drive ?

Do you have to make sure MAC has not ejected the drive ?

I'd also make sure she formatted the drive properly... even though it will 'work' as bought... you should always format the drives you buy for a mac to Mac OS EXtended... journaled.

I'll wager that might be part of the problem?

Do NOT, under any circumstances, upgrade or clean install Leopard on a workstation with RAID storage attached.

Unmount and power-down your storage, or unmount and disconnect storage.

And if you have already found the bug we found, (creation of "Invalid Sibling Link"), Diskwarrior 4 can repair. Diskwarrior 3 could not.

Be very careful with Leopard. Not 100% ready for prime time. We keep breaking it. But it does rule my laptop!

make sure you have designated the scratch drive and I would recomend making sure its fw not usb if possible.
