I'm a lifelong FCP user, and I'm wondering what the experience is like switching to Premiere Pro. I got it as a gift, and I'm thinking about trying it out.

I do a lot of stuff on my HMC 150, but will be doing more and more on the RED.

Just curious what people's experiences have been like switching from FCP to Premiere Pro.

I switch back and forth, in my day job we run 7 MacPros conncted by fibre to a 64tb SAN, but I am also an Adobe Ambassador. To be honest once you get your keyboard shortcuts the same on both there is not a hell of a lot of difference, there are little things you miss from one to the other but they both cut picture! The big difference is when I go to do something in another Adobe app and I dont have Dynamic Link or proper support for PSD files in FCP, then it hurts. Also the lack of native file format support in FCP does slow me down, especially on tight deadlines, thats usually when I use Prem. But know that Prem as project import and export of FCP timelines, jumping back and forth is pretty seamless, just watch out for doing things in Premiere like re-interpreting playback speed of 50 and 60 fps 720p footage to 25, FCP doesnt understand that you can do that and tends to throw a burko!
