FCP better than VEGAS

I cut my first feature on Vegas. Now, I am preparing to shoot my second feature and my friend told me to cut it on FCP.
Do you reccomend to acutally switch from VEGAS to Final Cut? I would have to also replace my PC into MAc but...DO YOU THINK Final Cut is the way to go?

I think you should stick with Vegas since you already know it quite well. Switching over will make things worse for you. Really, there isn't much difference between NLEs. One thing to keep in mind as well is that FCP is mac only and Vegas is PC only.

I started out on Final Cut. I have evolved with the program as it has evolved, but I have stuck with it because it is what I know and I love how it works. Some say that eventually I may have to learn Avid, but I work as an editor for an local production company that does features and animation and we use Final Cut. Plus it's what I use at my home studio. There are so many films that are made on Final Cut that it seems not so nessesary to learn Avid, especially with the HD cinema revolution. My point is, you don't need to switch over just because everyone tells you their NLE is better or Macs are better then PCs. Just use what you're good at, and your project will be the better for it.

I just switched from a PC to Mac and FCP. It is frustrating to learn things over again but I think it is the way to go.

I agree with that statemen!!!! I've been a PC guy for the past 15 yrs but finally made my move to the G5 Power Mac and good god I'm happy with the move. Frustrating? A tad bit but when you get it then you got it! :thumbup:
 
Hmm, I learned how to edit with premier pro first and found the move to Mac and FCP very easy. The shortcut keys were different, and there were a lot more features in FCP, but it got used to them quick. Maybe I'm just a quick learner.

ohhh Macs are so far superior to PCs. Worked with both and never care to work on a PC again.
 
I just switched from vegas 5.0 to fcp5 yesterday. I just bought a dual 2.7 g5. I have always been a pc user but I thing mac has a far superior advantage in video production and graphics. pc's are good for some stuff, like kids games, boat anchors, planters and sometimes e-mail.:)
I'm just kidding I used a pc for alot of years I think it's just time to step up as they say and run with the big boys. I like my new fcp studio.

We should start a motion thread or is there already one? I use A.E. 5.5 but think I am going to use motion now.
 
Boy, you guys are going to get it now. If you let some of the old school PC/Vegas guys on here see a couple relatively new DVXUser newbies talking like that, you are going to be in deep, deep, doggie doo. No ****. The only thing that might save you is that it is in the FCP thread, so they might not see you. Good luck guys, and keep that Mac stuff to yourselves.
