I shot some indoor sports video and another guy shot the same settings as me and when I saw his edited video on a TV, his video was way more crystal clear and really near perfect while mine was just kinda dark. It was a party environment so I was not able to watch and critique more but I know he uses Final Cut Pro and I use Premiere Pro 2.0. My video was unedited and just clips thrown on a timeline so I could show some for review of the athletes. I WANT THE QUALITY I SAW IN HIS VIDEO! :)

there is no discernable quality diff between the two editing apps. Image quality has to do with camera, editing, colour correction etc etc. The editing apps themselves don't degenerate the image in any way unless you ask them to. You can make both excellent and horrible films with both.

you say his footage was "crystal clear"... are you sure he wasn't shooting HD? it does make a huge difference.

He had the DVX100 and I have the DVX100b. Lots of maybes in my questions so I'll just have to find the guy and get these answers. Maybe he did the uprez to HD? What I really wondered was if FCP had some filter that was used to correct so nicely.

u definatley need to talk to him....he could have done all this post to it and thats how it came out so good...u dont know that till u ask him. Its not the NLE its what the user does with it, right!
