FCP Audio Acting Really Weird...

This just randomly started happening- when I play back audio on a timeline, sometimes it's fine, but usually, either the audio will be played back in slomo or will only play back in one channel, it might drop out entirely, or just sound really distorted. And it is affected on a track by track basis, so the music might sound fine while dialogue is missing or warped. And if I play the original track in the Viewer, it plays back fine. Same with if I export it and play in Quicktime or iTunes. It is only affected in the timeline. It's this way on all projects, from dvcproHD 720p24 to DV 60i projects... I am using FCS2, all software up to date. Help!

Did you start the projects in FCP 6 or are the projects migrations from FCP 5 to FCP 6? I've not heard of such an issue with the migration, but it could be you've found a new one to add to the list.

Are you forcing any clips to conform to non-native timelines? Everyone is so thrilled about the mix format timeline, but its not even been closely run through the paces yet. So just curious if you're mixing formats on a given timeline? Yet again could be a new fun quirk.

For any sequence/project that is acting a bit off, have you tried copying/pasting the contents into a new project file? Or exporting an XML and then importing that into a new project file? Perhaps something else has corrupted the existing project files you have.

Have you tried trashing your preferences? Doesn't really sound like a preferences issue at all, but hey just trying to eliminate the different typical trouble shooting steps here at this point.

Cheers.
