FCP and XH A1?

A question was raised in the XH A1 room about capturing A1 footage in 24p in FCP. http://www.dvxuser.com/V6/showthread.php?t=99180

There must be lots of people shooting with the A1 and editing in FCP, right? I've been wondering about the A1 / FCP workflow anyway, and now this raises some more questions. Would love to hear from anyone working with this combination.

I've actually been trying to figure out the XH A1 capture in FCS2 for the last two days. I don't normally use an A1, but a friend of mine used it on a shoot the other day as a b-cam. He then lent me the equipment to ingest myself, which I thought would be no biggie.

I have it set 1080p24 in easy setup. Thought it was as simple as that. For some reason I can't edit in native HDV. It just doesn't capture. It detects the camera but that's all. To my understanding, I wont be able to preview when editing native HDV, which is fine. I simply want to capture.

So I tried using AIC which seemed to work fine. However, after the footage is ingested I start editing and notice the frame rate is a little off; seems sped up. So I check the clips properties and it says 29.97 fps. I even made sure that when i changed the easy setup to 1080p24 that I created a new sequence, and then checked the sequence properties to make sure it was set to 24fps.... And on a side note, they were not kidding about AIC taking up alot of storage. Sheesh!

I dunno. I'm about to ask my friend to ingest the footage on his mac which it seems to work fine on. Unfortunately, he can't tell me what settings to change since all he had to do was easy setup 1080p24. I simply thought I could figure this out, but looks like i lose.

If anyone knows what settings I've missed/overlooked, any info would be greatly appreciated.
