FCP and MacBook

I know this issue has been mentioned before, but I'm still not sure:

Will FCP work on a MacBook? I know Apple doesn't officially "Support" it - just FCE - I'm curious if it will work. Especially since there isn't a huge difference between FCP and FCE besides codecs and the 2.0 GHZ Core 2 Duo processor rocks. I'd really like to get the little 13" MacBook for portability & travel, and can just output to an external monitor when I'm editing.

I'm wondering if their lack of support for FCP has more to do with the other software in the Final Cut Studio package rather than FCP itself??

Thanks!
Frank

The graphic card in the MacBook is not powerful enough for Final Cut Suite, that's all. Motion always needed big graphics support. FCP with 5.1 is more dependent on the graphics card now, and is getting more and more so. Personally, I wouldn't want to run FCP on a MacBook. You really do need a MacBook Pro. I also think there's more difference between FCP and FCE than you may realize. It's more than just some codecs.

you got it... Apple doesn't support Motion on the Macbook and that is why the entire studio package is not supported...

from what I hear, Final Cut Pro works great on a Macbook

Final Cut 5.1 works AWESOME on my 1st Gen Macbook. The only drawback is that Motion runs shitty. All the other apps in the suite fly on the Macbook (Core 1 duo).

So yeah, go for it (I repeat, Motion is SLOW on a Macbook!)

I'm gonna just get the MacBook Pro, for the extra $500 I'd rather "future-proof" myself. I've made too many mistakes in the past trying to save a few bucks and having it cost me more in the end!!

I forgot to add. I have a Macbook Pro Core 2 duo 2.3

I don't have 5.1.2. I can get my hands on 5.1 but I was
wondering if 5.1 has the easy setup for the Canon A1 shot at 24f.

I don't wanna buy 5.1 and then still not have what I need.
