FCP and Leopard

If I install Leopard on my PowerMac G5 (Dual 1.8GHz) will I be able to run Final Cut Studio 1 (non-universal) natively? Without using Rosetta or whatever that emulator is?

Yeah, you should be able to run it on that PowerMac with no problem.

Rosetta is only used by the Intel Macs to run PPC code. You have a PPC Mac so it does not need to run Rosetta.

Be careful with that. I just went through the same thing. I have a dual 2.0 G5 and a powerbook. FCP ran fine but Compressor was a dead dog. I tried everything to get it to work including a clean install and complete revamp of my system. I beat my head against the wall for weeks. I ended up spending 30 hours re-installing Tiger 10.4.11 with FCS 1.0. Everything works perfectly now. Leopard in my opinion needs time to catch up with the pro app software stuff. Just my experience.

The exact same thing happened to me. Compressor errored out "can't connect to background" or something like that. Also, DVDSP 4 refused to encode. The background apps hung up and wouldn't work.

I'm back to Tiger now.

I'm running Leopard with FCP Studio 1 on a G4 PowerBook. I've had no problems with any of the software I've tried to use. I'm running compressor right now and it's working fine.

Powerbook 17" 1.67 GHz G4 and Compressor won't run at all on Leopard. Installed twice and no dice. Hope Apple gets a fix for this soon. I'm running FCPS 2 so maybe that is the problem.
Also I'm still running QT 7.2 because of the issues reported with QT 7.3 and 7.4. So I'm not sure if that has anything to do with it or not.
