FCP and LED TV poor colour

Hey

I just brought a samsung 5800 LED for use with my mac pro and FCP system.

I'm getting quite poor colour results with the digital cinema preview. Everything else I play from my mac seems to look good and accurate (vlc HD movies etc) but the FCP preview looks way to saturated.

I know this has alot to do with the TV but I seem to be getting especially poor results from FCP. I also know that this TV is not a broadcast HD monitor. I'm just getting very different colour than what is on my monitor.

Is there a FCP option that I need or a setting that I can change to colour correct the video stream to my TV?

Cheers

You need a PCI card that is specifically made for FCP playback to judge accurate color. I use a Blackmagic Intensity Pro card, probably the least expensive solution at $200, connects via HDMI or component to your playback monitor.

Then the next part is needing to calibrate that monitor correctly to present the color, contrast accurately. You can use broadcast bars in FCP, set the screen to blue only mode which the newer Samsungs can do. Or use a THX setting which can be very close or calibrate using a THX optimizer from a DVD using their blue glasses.

None of this is just plug it in and go. Correct settings with the Blackmagic is a must, correct calibration of the screen is a must.
