FCP acting weird on export

Everything seems to be okay when I am editing right on through exporting a project file or self contained movie file. Now when I locate that file on my hard drive sometimes I get a message that says it needs such an such file and the exported file will not play correctly without it.

My latest dilemna is taking a project that was exported from FCP and importing it into Compressor. Well for some reason it says its going to be up to 4 hours to compress a 3 minute video file. I did get a successful compression of the same video a few days ago but I needed to make some changes and then compress it again and I am having all sorts of issues now.

I tried trashing the Pref's in Compressor but that didnt do anything. I tried re-exporting the same project from FCP and that didnt do anything either.

I thought it could be my external HD that was connected to my Macbook pro, so I transferred the file from one external drive to another one that is hook up to my desktop and when I tried to open the file is when I got that message about it was missing something and couldnt play correctly without it.

I am out of things to try to get this video compressed. I had some issues with exporting my last project too! So it might be something with FCP 5 HD on my Macbook Pro.
