FCP 7 and HVX-200a - Video Whiteout?

I'm wondering if this problem is related to my recent upgrade to Mac Snow Leopard 10.6.2.

I logged and transferred HVX-200a 24PA footage. When I placed this footage on a sequence timeline, I was asked to change my sequence settings to match clip settings. I did so.

The result, white, unchanging video playback and sequence settings:

Vid Rate: 23.98fps
Frame Size: 1280x1080
Compressor: DVCPRO HD 1080p30
Pixel Aspect: HD(1280x1080)

The footage played back fine before transferring. It didn't play back after transferring and after adding it to a timeline.

I guess... HELP!

Have you tried playing back the footage in Quicktime Player? Any chance your import settings in Log and Capture were set to transfer only the audio?

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, the captured video .mov file plays back fine in Quicktime, which means video must have transferred.

I recently upgraded from FCP 6.06 to 7 (I'm not yet running Snow Leopard). When I opened one of my older projects I got exactly what you described - white canvas and viewer screens. I poked around for a while looking for a specific "new" setting to no avail.

I then quit the app and restarted - problem solved (so far), I've been unable to reproduce this.

One interesting thing is that my second monitor, which is powered by my MX02mini seemed to be displaying the image (with effects) just fine. My main display is being driven from an albiet "weak" stock video card - the ATI HD 2600X - and only has 256Meg. Perhaps that's a contributing factor - it's certainly been an issue trying to render 10 ProRes sequences. 8 bit DVCProHD works like a charm but it really REALLY struggles with 10 bit anything.

Time for a new video card I think.

Hope this helps,

I was working from my laptop last night when I experienced the problem.

When I hooked it up to my external monitor, the video played back fine.

Must be a software glitch because the same video card sends the signal to my external monitor.
