FCP 7, AF100 AVCHD, Apple ProRES HQ question

I brought in >50 clips to FCP 7 from my AF100 via log & transfer.

It was transcoded to ProRes HQ inadvertently (I wanted LT or standard).

I edited the 2 minute piece, which used several FCP>MOTION>FCP round-tripped sequences.

Went to render and got weird images popping up over the video, images that were in my Motion projects...

I'm using brand new Mac Pro 16GB RAM, 12 core.

Can I safely change the sequence setting to ProRes (standard) or LT without causing problems? For the Motion sequences I used HQ initially. Is HQ the likely culprit?

I'm dumbfounded and don't want to lose the many hours of editing that went into the project--both FCP & Motion work.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

What is weird about images that were in your Motion project popping up in FCP sequence?
Look carefully in Motion, and I bet you left some few frames of those images in some layers. Also if you used fade out filters make sure they go all the way to the end of an image on the motion timeline.

Most probably HQ isn't the culprit, but yes you can change it safely in sequence settings. You'll cause yourself more rendering time though...
Next time click on the preference tab in "Log & transfer" window, and change the AVCHD setting to whatever Prores kind you like.

You can try setting your renders to be ProRes (LT), but otherwise you'll have to reimport that footage as ProRes (LT). HQ is a MONSTER, creates HUGE files with TONS of info, and is meant for Film DI work.
