FCP 6 Reconnecting Fun

Anyone know why if you need to reconnect files in FCP 6 (from a project started in FCP 5, so the footage digitized in FCP 5) you can only reconnect the files in FCP 6 as one file at a time. The "Reconnect all relative in path" is turned on, but with the setup as described above, FCP 6 requires/forces us to reconnect each clip one at a time. Is there anything that can be done to help with this or is it just necessary because there is a fundamental difference in some setting or such between how FCP 5 and FCP 6 create media? If anyone has any insight (or better yet a quick work around) it would be greatly appreciated. And simply re-importing the footage isn't an option as the log notes won't carry over.

cheers.

I had the same problem as you, but I've found that you can also put the files into a bin, and reconnect all of them by right-clicking on the bin and selecting reconnect.

If you right click on the bin will it do a normal reconnect all then? If so that's great, at least for one thing it would be fixed. But we also needed to do the same for render files, and in that case we'd be stuck. But even if we could do it with the clips it would be something.

cheers.

No, its reconnecting of HDV (downconverted by the deck to DV though), DV, DVCPro, and then there was case of use needing to reconnect render files. All instances are giving us the inability to reconnect all relative in path. Was hoping someone had a work around, but guess not. It is what it is, and just adds more fuel to the addage of never upgrading mid-projects I guess (or if you do, at least make sure all the suites are upgraded).

cheers.
