FCP 6.0.6 Choppy playback...what?

I haven't seen this before. Drop footage into a 24pA timeline, playback is choppy. Switched from Safe RT to Unlimited RT, no difference. I can live with it for now, unless it affects the final product. What gives?

Now, the only difference is having some Nikon 7000 footage in there, it's ProRes'ed. But, I dropped that into another timeline, also 24pA, no issue.

What is the format of the footage precisely. And what are you playing it off of. Choppy indicates too slow hard drives or frame rate/codec to sequence mismatch.

DV-NSTC for the DVX footage, D7000 is ProRes. Both 24fps in a 24pA timeline. Playing off a G-Raid via USB. Maybe I should bake the D7000 footage?

BTW, just got a GoPro, checking out your DVD now! :)

The fact that you're using USB as the connection to the G-Raid could be it. Have you tried firewire?

No, but I probably should. I'll run out and buy one tomorrow. I have my capture deck connected via Firewire, so I couldn't connect the G-Raid via Firewire as well.
