OK, here is the question. I am using MBP with Core2 duo 2.4Ghz processor and 4GB RAM, OS10.5.7. I am also using FCP v6.0.6. Due to the fact I am in the middle of two projects I can't (or don't want to) upgrade to new FCP7. I am getting some footage form the new XF camera, I also in the process of purchasing XF100 myself (on pre-order). Anyway- when I am trying to get clips into FCP through L&T window in the settings there is the only option of transcoding them to ProRes. I was under the impression they can be edited native . The clips were shot at 1080/24p 50Mbs CBR. I don't have the original utility disc, I downloaded the software from Canon page, but I was told by the tech support it is the same as on the disc. So is there the way to edit native in FCP 6.0.6 or an I screwed and have to transcode everything to ProRes? Thanks for any advice.

According to Canon xf support you should be able to import and edit 1080/24p XF footage native with FCP6.0.6:

Users of Final Cut Pro 6.0.3 to Final Cut Pro 7.0.2

It is possible to play back all movie clips and download these files in native or Apple ProRes 422 format (excluding files recorded in 50 Mbps (4:2:2) 1280x720/30P, 50 Mbps (4:2:2) 1280x720/25P, and 50 Mbps (4:2:2) 1280x720/24P modes).
