FCP 5 - subtitles/black and white

hi everyone,
bit of a problem here, in a few of my clips one of the guys interviewed is speaking Zulu and I was hoping to have subtitles at the bottom of the screen translating what he is saying. Can I do this on FCP 5? I've checked through the text options but can't seem to figure out how (if) I can?
Also, does anyone know how to use the color correction wheel to turn a clip into black and white or sepia (for a flashback sequence)?

Several ways you can go about subtitles, do a search for it maybe something will pop up.

to make your color video into black and white (desaturate) just apply a video filter and desaturate it. thats the simple way.

For black and white... just go to the DE-SATURATE filter under the IMAGE CONTROL tab in effects and then tweek out the whites, mids, and blacks with color correction.
