I've been asked to create archive DVD's of four three-hour operas, each opera recorded with three cameras minimum. So that's a lot of footage, and therefore I'll need to make very good use of my available gigabytes. I'm about to capture nine hours of footage from the first opera, and then I'll edit it down to a three hour sequence.
The company who hired me to do this may come back to me in a couple of weeks and ask me to do something with the footage, for example, create a two minute highlight clip to post to their website, so I would like to keep just the three hour sequence, in it's original format so that it can be re-edited, but discard the six hours of unused footage, thus leaving enough storage to get down to other projects.
Scratch Disc 500 GB, footage is DV-PAL (they're happy to use basic ole DV as it's archive and not for resale etc)
What's the most efficient way to do this in FCP 5?
Thanks folks!
