fcp 5: auto pulldown for 24p?

I just spoke to a friend who works as an editor, she says she hasn't dealt with dvx footage specifically, but that the new fcp will just automatically do the pulldown if you set this or that right... is this true? Without a loss in quality? (Sorry to beat an overly-beaten and long since dead horse...)

Yes it is just like FCPHD you just check the box in capture setting to remove advanced pulldown and bing go you are all done and working with true 24p. Now in your playback settings you have to tell it to add the advanced pull down back on so you can edit with an external NTSC monitor. But thats just another check box. It is so easy it is sad so good luck

Oh cool, so problem solved, right? So is FCPHD the one that comes in "FCP STUDIO"? and is FCP5 different still? Which is cheapest and any recccomendations on where to find best price?
Thanks!

No FCPHD is the older version and FCP Studio has FCP5 and a bunch of other goodies. So I would get studio. Or FCP 5 for the new stuff in it. FCPHD works awsome and I will still use it. FCP 5 dose HD its just the new version of FCPHD hope that helps

So am I write in assuming that with the new FCP (5) it is just as easy to edit and export true 24p as it is in Vegas?

last question then, can you (anyone) reccomend the best FCP 5 for beginners/idiots who know NOTHING about NL/video/film editing?
