FCP 5.1 Crashing...

Okay so I ordered the crosssgrade and gleefully installed it last night only to find it crashes on startup every time won't even load the splash page. I have run FCP rescue repaired permission ran all the software updates, and even completely removed the program, prefs, library receipts and everything FP related and re-installed it from the ground up a s a clean install no dice the software locks and crashes on startup. Any help anyone?

What thrid party plug-ins do you have? Try moving them out of the plug-ins folder.

When you trash everything, did you do a search for everything Final Cut Pro and trash it all?

Did you Repair Permissions after you trashed everything?

I'd also look at running Disk Warrior. Be sure it's a version compatable with your OS version. Run it first, then install FCP 5.1.

Another thought, I am aware of bad disks in the past. Contact Apple support, although it's just a bunch of idiots with a book full of standard answers. The phone support guys, not just at Apple, are NOT and rarely are trained technicians. I've actually run two different call centers in my old IT career. It's nuts...

At this point, I'd remove all things FCP from your drive, and then run Disk Warrior.
