I have tried almost everything with my son and still cannot solve this problem.
Trying to capture hd video from XH A1 using FCP 5.1.4.
System brand new Imac with SL 10.6.2 one week old, Has new 800 firewire port, had to order new cable.
Quicktime 7.6.x and 10.x
1st attempt get "unable to initialize device",
fcp setting
HDV-1080i60
HDV
HDV fierwire
Go to iMove and can capture ok
Tried SD mode and log and capture OK.
after numerous attempts we get this to work
DV-1080i60
HDV apple intermediate condec
HDV fierwire basic
quicktime 7 in prefs
video source set to XH A!
native device
However FCP will start and capture straight into a screen, Not log and capture screen.
today we install FCP on older mac tiger 10.4.1 and log and captures all works great.
I am am thinking that apple has some issue with the firewire 800 port and SL
If anyone has any ideas or solutions to this ...we would really appreciate this.
