FCP 4 on IMAC w/ 120GB fantom HD

Hey guys,

I was just reading about 24p editing on Imacs and heard that it would be better to run with two HD's. I have an Imac with 80gb/715mb and a fantom 120gb HD and was wondering in the settings what do you set the HD too? Would it be ok to set the External as the capture scratch, I thought the video will drop frames if running from an external.. Also it is possible to edit 24p advancded on my imac with no problems?? What tasks do you guys set your external HD'd to? MY DVX IS ON THE WAY I CAN"T WAIT!!!!

Thanks
-jason

Do a speed test of both drives.
One of the problems with using firewire for capture is our inputing (camera) and outputting (drive) at the same time, even if you daisy chain camera to the drive. This can lead to drop frames. You might consider capturing to internal and copying over after you have the captures.

You need FCP to edit 24p advanced. (iMovie and FC Express won't capture 24p advanced or edit in a 24fps timeline) Should work ok if FCP get's reasonable speed on your machine.
